Construction Update: Us 42 Southbound Closure Resumes Feb 8

ODOT is gearing up to resume work on the US 42 pavement project between SR 745 and US 33 in Delaware and Union counties. Please take note of the following upcoming traffic impacts: 

 •  Southbound Closure Resumes (Feb 8): The directional closure of US 42 SB is tentatively scheduled to return starting 

    Sunday, February 8, 2026, weather permitting.

 • Active Work Zone: The initial closure will be set between Watkins Road and Watkins-California Road. Expect the exact

    closure points to shift as work progresses through different sections.

 • Full Weekend Closure (Feb 21-22): US 42 will be fully closed in both directions the weekend of February 21 & 22 for a

    culvert replacement between Watkins Road and Harriott Road.

 • Second Culvert Work: A second culvert replacement in this same section is tentatively planned for approximately two

    weeks later.

 • Official Detour: The signed detour for both the SB closure and full weekend closures remains the same: SR 257 to US 36 to

    US 33 (or the reverse).
